PhD Candidate at Technological University of the Shannon

ABOUT ME

Patryk Makowski is a devoted academic and fitness professional with an exceptional sports management, business, and leadership track record. Currently a PhD candidate at the Technological University of the Shannon: Midlands Midwest, he is actively delving into the complex relationship between transformational leadership and employee engagement within remote working environments. His ongoing research combines qualitative and quantitative methods to explore how leadership styles can influence and enhance the work engagement of remote employees, reflecting his keen interest in optimising business operations in the context of a rapidly evolving digital world.

His academic journey began at Athlone Institute of Technology, where he consistently achieved distinction grades across all his studies. After earning a Higher Certificate in Sport, Leisure and Recreation, he progressed to an Ordinary Degree and then an Honors Degree in Sport Management. Demonstrating his broadening interests, Patryk pursued a Master's Degree in General Business, distinguishing himself as a top student.

Patryk's dedication to community service, fitness, and martial arts are major pillars of his personal life, fostering a balance of physical and mental wellness. An avid traveller and photographer, he appreciates diverse cultures and landscapes, reflecting his interests and curiosity. His love for research extends beyond his academic life, fueling a constant quest for learning and growth.

A proven leader, Patryk has been recognised for his remarkable achievements. In 2019, he was awarded Best Student in the Honors Degree in Sport Management and Tourism. He showcased his entrepreneurial skills early on as a national finalist in the Junior Dragon Den in 2012 and recipient of the Roscommon Business Idea Award in 2013. His leadership potential was also recognised with an award during his final year of secondary school in 2014-2015.
